FORT COLLINS, CO – All eyes are on the 2022 Postseason WNIT to return to its standard format, with the selection of the 64-team field set for Sunday, March 13 and the championship game scheduled for Saturday, April 2.

Produced by Triple Crown Sports, the Postseason WNIT dates back to 1998, with Penn State wining the first title out of a 16-team field. The bracket expanded to 64 teams in 2010; the 2020 event was cancelled because of COVID-19 and in 2021 the field was capped at 32 teams, with games played at four regional sites. Rice won the title game, 71-58, against Ole Miss in Memphis, TN.

Here's the schedule for the 2022 event:

Round 1 - March 16-18
Round 2 - March 19-22
Round 3 - March 23-26
Quarterfinals - March 26-28
Semifinals - March 30-31
Championship - Saturday, April 2 (broadcast by CBS Sports Network)

Officials with the Postseason WNIT will release the 64-team field after the NCAA Tournament bracket is fully released, approximately 9 p.m. ET. Locations, matchups and start times for WNIT Round 1 games and the full bracket will be announced by 2 p.m. ET on Monday, March 14. Games are played at individual schools.

“We’ve crowned champions from mid-major programs like Rice and South Dakota in recent years, with Power 5 squads from Arizona, Indiana and Michigan also making it through the brackets to claim the title,” said WNIT event director Jared Rudiger. “It’s such a great mix of teams and stories in the Postseason tournament, and we are thrilled to do our part in supporting the competitive drive found throughout women’s college basketball.”
