Fordham 58, Boston 44
Saturday’s Round 2 game between Boston University and host Fordham was billed as a defensive battle, and the game lived up to its expectations, with Fordham earning a 58-44 victory.

Both teams entered the game ranked in the Top 20 nationally in points allowed – Boston’s opponents averaged just 51.6 ppg this season, and Fordham only allowed 52.1 ppg this season. But Fordham (26-8) picked up its second-ever victory in the postseason with the game. They will play the winner of Sunday’s JMU-NC State game at a site and day to be determined.

Marah Strickland led Fordham with 14 points, while Chantell Alford scored 12 points in her final game for Boston (24-6).

Toledo 61, Youngstown State 43
The Toledo Rockets, playing in familiar postseason territory, defeated Youngstown State 61-43 in a second-round WNIT game Saturday.

Inma Zanoguera scored 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting for the Rockets (29-3), who were in the second round of postseason play for the fourth straight year.

Brandi Brown, the Horizon League player of the year, led Youngstown State (23-10) with 10 points. This was the Penguins’ first postseason appearance since the 2000 NCAA Tournament. Youngstown won its first-round game before ending its season against Toledo.

BYU 69, San Diego State 58
BYU had four players score in double figures Saturday in its 69-58 victory over San Diego State to set up a third-round matchup with Sunday’s winner of Saint Mary’s-Northern Colorado.

Kim Beeston led the Cougars (23-10) with 17 points, and Jennifer Hamson had a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds. For San Diego State (27-7), champions of the Mountain West Conference, Chelsea Hopkins had 17 points and six assists.

Bowling Green 61, Duquesne 54
Bowling Green’s strong second-half performance earned the Falcons a 61-54 victory over Duquesne in the second round of the Postseason WNIT.

Bowling Green (24-10) moved to 4-4 all-time in the WNIT as it outscored Duquesne 36-25 and made its free throws at the end to seal the win. The Falcons will play the Drexel-Harvard winner in Round 3.

Duquesne (24-8) wraps up another strong season with its fifth straight appearance in the WNIT.

Drexel 82, Harvard 72
Drexel matched its school record for wins in a season by defeating Harvard 82-72 in the second round of the Postseason WNIT.

The victory gave Drexel (24-10) its first multiple-victory postseason accomplishment in school history. The Dragons move on to play at Bowling Green at 7 p.m. ET Thursday in Round 3.

Harvard (21-9), which entered the contest on an eight-game win streak, finished out its season with the most wins since the Crimson earned 22 in the 2002-03 season.
